Quando ripenso ai libri che ricordo senza sforzo, mi accorgo che ognuno di loro rappresenta una fase diversa della mia vita, come se fossero amici che mi hanno accompagnata in momenti diversi, in situazione diverse. A volte in modo del tutto serendipico, come se il libro giusto fosse arrivato proprio quando ne avevo più bisogno.

Yes, every single one of them — from the magic of Brida to the relentless rhythm of Eleven Minutes, from the hidden power in The Witch of Portobello to the breathless suspense of The Spy. And then there’s The Valkyries, with that feminine esoteric mysticism that stays engraved within, and even Confessions of a Pilgrim, perhaps his least-known book but also one of the most intimate.
